Imagination Library ProgramIn May 2007, Olgoonik Development launched the Imagination Library Program at Alak School in Wainwright. The goal of this nationwide “books-from-birth” project, founded by country music legend Dolly Parton, is to foster a love of reading and an appreciation of book ownership. If children learn to love reading, it is very likely they will love learning, too, and these are contributing characteristics of students that pursue educational opportunities beyond high school.
At no cost to families and regardless of income, children will receive one book per month, from birth to their fifth birthday, for a total of 60 books. The Anchorage East Rotary Club provided the funds to purchase and ship the books.
