ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Overview:
Responsible for managing the daily activities in the accounting department. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day functions of the accounting department
- Supervises the preparation of various financial statements and reports
- Directs and participates in the review for month-end and year-end closings
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll
- Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures
- Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records
- Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies
- Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues
- Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems
- Assist in the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting
- Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls
Education/Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting and at least 7 years of experience. Government contract accounting experience required, including in-depth knowledge of FAR and DCAA. Must have advanced knowledge an ability to manipulate data and spreadsheets, such as Excel. Experience with ADP, MasterBuilder, Timberline or Deltek strongly preferred.
