New Olgoonik Initiative to Honor Elders

WAINWRIGHT – Olgoonik Corporation introduced a new initiative to honor elders at the 45th Annual Meeting of Shareholders. President and CEO Hugh Patkotak, Sr., said, “At our community meeting in Wainwright in May, our shareholders asked if we could do more to honor our history and our elders. I’m pleased to announce that we’re starting a new elder portrait and story gallery, ‘Utuqqanaaq Qiñiġaañi.’”

He asked those gathered at the meeting to consider nominating an elder and sharing stories of elders who have been influential in the community throughout history. The Olgoonik Corporation Shareholder Services Department will solicit nominations moving forward. Community members can talk to Evelyn Nashoalook in the Wainwright office or Whitney Kellie and Myra Panik in the Anchorage office.

“Our first selection for the portrait and story gallery is someone who has had a big impact on me, on our corporation, and on our community: June Childress,” President/CEO Patkotak Sr. added as he introduced a new video. “Here she is to tell you more in her own words.”
